Renowned throughout Europe for the grandeur and beauty of its fireworks display, every year the Lake Annecy Festival brings together thousands of international spectators around the large Esplanade du Pâquier.
The event traditionally takes place on the first Saturday in August. This year, it will take place on 5 August, with musicals as the theme. For 70 breathtaking minutes, Europe's top master pyromancers will attempt to "transform Annecy into a veritable magical theatre whose heart will beat to the rhythm of the best musicals of all time", says Andrea Scarpati (Master Pyromicist, Pyromitions).
AN AVANT-GARDE YET HISTORIC SHOW!
The origins of the event date back to 1860, when the Duchy of Savoy was united with France in the presence of Napoleon III and his wife. In honour of this event, at the end of August the town organised an evening with decorated boats, lanterns, bonfires and fireworks.
Over the years, the event has grown in scale, becoming increasingly spectacular and magical. In 2022, the Fête du Lac can pride itself on having introduced a ballet of drones for the first time in France! This year, the show promises to be even more technical, with 300 drones flying over the lake for around ten minutes.
