Hello Katy, We were impressed to read that you were a Yoga teacher, Physiotherapist, Posturologist and founder of Satiam Academy!
What was your education?
My first passion was gymnastics, which I practiced as a top athlete and where the alignment of the body is essential. Then it’s with the love of mountain and nature that I came to alpine skiing, high level too, but not the one I destined myself unfortunately.
I therefore turned to physiotherapy in order to help athletes. This practice seemed quickly insufficient to cure and so I continued training in posturology, naturopathy, sensory input studies so that the body suffers as little as possible.
I myself have experienced physical suffering through the intensive practice of high level sports but also with 10 years of anorexia and 8 years of insomnia. I had the chance as part of my thesis to leave for a month in Vancouver to study the posture of the dancers of one of the most prestigious school in the city.
There, I reluctantly agreed to take part in a Yoga session. Me who was unable to stay more than 3 minutes still and whose opinion on the discipline was very fixed. I was conquered by the approach made to this side of the Pacific, very influenced by Asia and India. This is how the month turned into two years of training in Anusara Yoga, based on a Tantric philosophy. A revelation.

Can you tell us in a few words what Satiam Yoga is?
KM
The word Satiam is built on "Sat" in Sanskrit, the language of the founding texts of Yoga. It means, truth, essence. "Iam" means I am in English. Satiam could literally be translated as “I am the essence”, “I am the truth”. It is an innovative practice that combines yoga and the art of alignment with the embodiment of life and truth. I am happy to have today trained 60 teachers who can themselves bring all the well-being through their teaching.

Why did you choose La Clusaz for this first festival?
KM
I travel a lot but the place where I find myself most at home is in Annecy. La Clusaz is where I spend most of the winter and both destinations are so close both in distance and in population. Annecy is a city of passionates and I feel the same dynamic in La Clusaz.
And then, there is Elodie Lantelme without which the festival would not have emerged. She was my student and at the end of the first class, she said, "I want to become a Yoga teacher and I want you to train me". She has lived in La Clusaz for many years and has put a lot of energy into this project. She is my pillar and a humanly incredible person.

How did you choose the master teachers?
KM
I wanted this first festival to welcome French-speaking but also English-speaking teachers of world renown. Teachers who have innovated in their practice and allow yoga to reach a wider audience. I had the great honor of learning yoga in Vancouver with amazing teachers. They were very important to me and supported me a lot at a time when I did not have much means.
I could not conceive that they were not present in La Clusaz. This is an incredible opportunity for the Festival participants and for me, of course, that all four will be present.
