LCZ FREESTYLE SHOW Second Clap!

For this second edition of the LCZ Freestyle Show, we have made an appointment with Didier Galland, President of the Club des Sports of La Clusaz for some small secrets...

PVG: Hi Didier, you are the new president of the Club des Sports since November 2017, why did you want to invest yourself in this job?
DG: I had three essential motivations:
  • The fact that my last son Tanguy was part of the Club allowed me to understand the social and educational role it represented for children
  • My desire to invest in an association as an annual resident of La Clusaz since 5 years (and from always in my heart)
  • By Sport spirit and the desire to bring my professional know-how on a voluntary basis.
PVG: What does LCZ mean?
DG: It is the acronym for La Clusaz, a community created by the Tourist Office around digital content by riders of the Club and other organizations.
The Rider Factory is run by the Club des Sports with current and former members.

PVG: How did the idea of the Freestyle Show come about?
DG: The idea goes to Alexandre Hamelin, former rider, member of the city council, shaper and speaker who proposed to update the shows organized in the 90s and which were a great success, the Marlboro Ski Show.
The LCZ Freestyle Show takes place in the heart of the resort, at Champ Giguet and offers the greatest number of quality entertainment that allows us to grow our reputation.

PVG: How does the event take place?
DG:
Last year, for the first edition, the event was held on Saturdays only.
On this occasion we gathered 4 000 people in Champ Giguet to admire the 40 riders in a warm atmosphere that recalls the most beautiful hours of La Clusaz.
For this second year, we wanted this event to grow and put its name down as an inevitable and lasting event of the entertainment program of La Clusaz.
The change consists in the fact that the event will take place over two days and in two different places.
Friday, 15th March with a Jib Session on Impasse du Vatican which will be covered with snow for the occasion. Jumping modules, Dj Sound & Light, it will be LA BEFORE.
Saturday, 16th March, we take the same and we start again but at Champ Giguet with a big kicker, a VIP corner and a great atmosphere.
We are expecting 45 riders including Loïc Collomb-Patton, Joffrey Pollet-Villard, Lolo Favre and Ben Buratti... and more than 6,000 people over the two days.

PVG: Will there be a prize money?
DG: Yes of course, two in fact which will reward the best jumper elected to the clapometer.
For LA BEFORE, the prize money reaches €1000 and is jointly financed by La Scierie and Les Caves de Paccaly.
The second one on Saturday goes up to €2 000 and is financed by the company Class Orga.

PVG: You have set up a raffle, what are the prizes offered? What will the money be used for?
DG: We have an incredible chance because we get a lot of support from locals but also from companies.
There will be of course the complete ski equipment with shoes, skis and sticks offered by the Delaware Consulting Company, a season ski pass offered by the Satelc, ESF season or weekly vouchers, vouchers for different restaurants of the resort, many from our partner Oakley and the support of the PVG Group, which gives away different packages at the Beauregard Hotel, the Cristal Spa of the hotel Au Coeur du Village, Le Bistro restaurant and Bowling.
The money raised by the sale of tickets allows us to relieve the parents of young people enrolled in freestyle section by participating in the financial burden induced by the practice of the activity (travel to competitions, physiotherapy care ...)

PVG: A last, more personal question. I was told that the Galland family and La Clusaz was a long love story?
DG: You are well informed!
My parents chose La Clusaz more than 55 years ago. We have come since then in summer and winter, that's where I learned to ski and decided to settle down full time 5 years ago with my wife and our last son.
Didier, thank you for the time you have given us, we wish you a lot of success for the second edition of the LCZ Freestyle Show.
