WHAT TO DO IN SUMMER AT LA CLUSAZ?

In summer, La Clusaz is the ideal destination for putting your mobile phone in 'aeroplane mode' and disconnecting from the stress of everyday life, taking your time and enjoying all the sensations with family and/or friends. Here's a closer look at the activities on offer in this year-round village in the Haute Savoie region...

In summer, the mountains are a vast green playground full of flowers, where you can hear the sound of cowbells as they graze. It's a place where you can take part in fun and sometimes even unusual activities, where you can eat delicious gourmet specialities handed down from generation to generation, where you can spend cool, relaxing evenings far from the hustle and bustle of the seaside resorts and where you can admire the sky with its thousand stars as night falls... The list is long, there's so much to say... In this article, we'll share with you a few ideas for activities in La Clusaz without revealing everything so that you can discover some for yourself. 😉 :

  • Hiking in the Aravis Massif
  • Hiking is a key activity for nature lovers in summer, appealing to young and old alike. It can be adapted to suit everyone's tastes and physical condition.

  • Cycling in all its forms
  • In a place where the Tour de France has passed through on many occasions, it's hard for road bike enthusiasts not to take on the Col des Aravis. Just a few laces from the finish, the reward is already in sight... Here you are, head to head with Mont Blanc.
For those who prefer less-travelled terrain, there are 125km of signposted mountain biking trails and the Bike Park at La Clusaz.

Finally, downhill cycling virtuosos can follow in the footsteps of Kilian Bron to get their fill of (very) thrills!

By hand or electric bike, on fun or steeper routes, La Clusaz seduces with its vast playground.

→ This summer, take advantage of the EVASION OFFER at the Au Cœur du Village hotel. This package offers accommodation in our Maison Relais & Châteaux for 2 nights, breakfasts, dinners and bike hire.

  • For those nostalgic for winter...
  • If you want to get a bit of height and feel tiny in the face of the immensity of the Aravis mountains, take the few ski lifts open for the summer season:
          Beauregard cable car
          Crêt du Merle chairlift
          Crêt du Loup chairlift
You can get there on foot or with your mountain bike.

  • Summer sledging at La Clusaz
  • From the Patinoire gondola, take to the rails to hurtle down 800m of piste. Thanks to the handle on the front of the sled, you can control the speed of your descent for maximum fun. You can go it alone or in pairs.

  • A snack at the terrace at the Bistro
  • To recover from your emotions, take a break on the terrace of the Le Bistro restaurant. Located in the centre of the village of La Clusaz, on the ground floor of Christiania hotel, it's a great place to recharge your batteries in the sunshine.

  • To feel the sensation of walking on rock
  • Halfway between hiking and mountaineering, the via ferrata allows you to tackle large rock faces using footbridges, cables and ramps. Located in the Combe de Bordera, this route opened in 1998 and is called Yves POLLET-VILLARD, in tribute to the mountaineer from La Clusaz.
Along the way (3 to 4 hours depending on your pace), you'll enjoy panoramic views of the Col des Aravis. Occasionally, wild animals will appear to encourage you in your efforts... keep your eyes peeled! 😉

  • Canyoning on the way down
  • The warmer weather means that canyoning is a great way to get your thrills and discover a wild and unspoilt natural environment while staying cool. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, our guides will adapt to your level and your desires. The only watchwords are fun and safety!
