The Foire de La Croix is a traditional event held annually in La Clusaz. Deeply rooted in the history and culture of the region, it is generally celebrated around 14th September in honour of the Feast of the Cross. This year, the event will take place on
Sunday, 15th September 2024 at the Champ-Giguet in La Clusaz.
On this day, the inhabitants of the Aravis gather to celebrate their cultural heritage, religious traditions, craftsmanship and to mark the descent of the herds to the village.
The programme for the day:
- 09:00: Arrival of the herds
- From 10:00: Cattle competition, cheese competition & young jurors’ competition
- 12:00: Traditional meal at the village hall
- 15:00: Parade of the animals and sheepdog demonstrations
- 17:30: Mares’ competition
Throughout the day:
- Musical entertainment by the Frères Tuaz
- Strolling through the market and discovering local crafts: copper work, woodwork, knives, cowbells, and more
- Summer sledging, mountain biking at the Bike Park, leisure activities, and games for the whole family
- Petting farm animals: horses, ponies, sheep, lambs, cows, and more
European Heritage Days at the Hameau des Alpes:
Also at the Hameau des Alpes, join the "European Heritage Days". In the Traditional House, explore the Reblochon and Ski Areas to discover all the secrets of Reblochon cheese and learn about the evolution of skiing over the past century. You can also see an outdoor exhibition of old photographs of La Clusaz and visit the small attic near the vegetable garden. Watch traditional wood sawing demonstrations with the Heritage and Tradition Association, from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
